Meet Heather
Healing from Complex Trauma,
Anxiety & Perfectionism
I’m a relational, down-to-earth, and collaborative therapist. We’ll work together to explore what’s holding you back and find practical ways forward without lecturing or judgment—just real conversations that help you grow. I’m an active listener who asks thoughtful questions, offers honest feedback, and shares a laugh along the way.
I approach our work with care and curiosity, engaging in a way that helps us explore your challenges, uncover patterns, and build tools to create meaningful change. You’re the expert on your own life—I don’t presume to know what’s best for you. My role is to walk alongside you, offering insight, reflection, and support as we navigate healing and growth, always at your pace, but with the intention of moving forward.
I’ve been told that working with me feels grounding, warm, and insightful. One former client shared, “Thank you for sticking with me, even when I didn’t know how to stick by my own side.”
I hope to help you reconnect with your strength, heal what still hurts, and find more joy in the present.
You deserve to feel calm and worthy, free from endless cycles of overthinking and self-criticism.
I love working with adults who need support around their anxiety. My clients struggle with perfectionism, boundaries, people-pleasing, and general concerns about identity and worth.
Many of my clients have traumatic childhoods and/ or relationships they are processing and working through. Some people feel like therapy hasn’t helped them in the past. Others feel like they are pretending to “make it” even though they are filled with self-doubt and unwanted thoughts and feelings.
Therapy can help you gain more insight into managing what is overwhelming you. Getting through life’s obstacles can be tough but showing up for yourself is an amazing first step.
I’m here to help you find your joy.
In my clients’ words:
“Heather is so down-to-earth, and I felt comfortable with her from the first session. She listened to me and never judged, so it’s easy to open up to her. I know she really cares about her clients, and I always felt comfortable and safe talking about my feelings with her.”
Lighten the load of chronic illness and emotional overwhelm.
I also love working with people who are managing an invisible illness. I see the strength, determination, and courage it takes to manage a chronic medical issue. I am here to listen and help you hold the frustration, overwhelm, and fear that often accompanies chronic conditions. We can work on actionable steps to help you with these hard feelings.
Often, I am privileged to share an aha! moment when clients realize they are pushing through hard things by shoving emotions down (like anxiety, fear, shame) and continuing to perform their best, despite feeling weighed down and overwhelmed.
And I get it. I have endometriosis and lived for years with pain and without a diagnosis. I get how hard it is to navigate life when you are also managing an illness. I love helping people find strength and hope on such a difficult journey.
In my clients’ words:
“Heather is insightful and dedicated to this work. I’ve been to therapy for years previously and I have never had a therapist who uses parts work, emdr, and brain science together. It’s not just talk therapy.”
My Background
I like to travel and see different cultures. I am an avid reader, dark chocolate connoisseur, and dedicated Netflix binger. When it’s not too cold (above 50 degrees because I’m no winter warrior), I enjoy finding places to hike around Austin.
I graduated from Texas State with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling in 2014, and I‘m licensed in the state of Texas.
Previously, I spent seven years as a school counselor, and I taught World History and World Geography in high schools for 11 years.
I began working with clients part-time in 2015 and opened my full-time practice in Round Rock, Texas, in 2021. Being a therapist is my jam, and I’m committed to creating a space where all clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Client Feedback
I give clients an option to share feedback after therapy has concluded. Reviews are not something I request at any point, as I deeply respect your privacy. However, if my client feels comfortable, sharing feedback once therapy has ended helps me grow as a professional and gives others a glimpse into what it’s like to work with me. Client feedback is completely optional and anonymous.
Below is some of the recent feedback I’ve gotten after clients completed their therapy experience with me:
“Heather makes you feel so at home. She’s incredibly genuine. I am less anxious, and I’ve learned to take up space. Lastly, I appreciate her sharing about the therapeutic process because it empowered me.”
“I was at my worst when I met you. You helped me learn about dissociation, nervous system regulation, and how to use parts to understand my inner conflict. This journey has been the most important investment I’ve made in myself.”
“Heather is the perfect fit for highly sensitive, empathic people pleasers, and for those who have received a diagnosis of C-PTSD and are ready to dive deep into their inner work and relate more deeply with their core selves. She is the most gifted therapist I have had the pleasure of working with and her strength lies in her commitment to professional development and integrating empirical findings into her work. She's also very respectful of emotional boundaries -- much needed in the therapy world as opening up can be so vulnerable. I always felt safe to express to Heather and she would continually check on how I was doing - another thing about her work that sets her apart from other therapists I've had. I also did EMDR in the past, and while it helped in some ways, it was destabilizing in others. Heather's approach to EMDR was thoughtful, intentional, cautious, and moved at a pace that respected where my nervous system was at. Her approach is built on a solid foundation of parts work implemented with the care of someone truly passionate about her work and her clients. I feel safer, have a healthier relationship with myself, have built resilience to life's challenges, and most importantly, feel unburdened by my past."
My Approach & Professional Development
My Approach to Therapy: Integrating Attachment Theory, Parts Work, EMDR, and Interpersonal Neurobiology
In my therapeutic practice, I blend several integrative, trauma-informed approaches to support lasting healing and personal growth. These include Attachment Theory, Parts Work (such as Internal Family Systems and ego state work from Robin Shapiro), EMDR, and Interpersonal Neurobiology (as developed by Dr. Dan Siegel and others). Each modality complements the others to help clients heal emotional wounds, improve relationships, and regulate their inner worlds.
Attachment Theory explores how early caregiving experiences shape our ability to connect with others, regulate emotions, and view ourselves. By understanding attachment patterns, we can work together to heal relational wounds and build a more secure sense of self.
Parts Work recognizes that we are made up of various internal "parts"—each with its own emotions and memories. In therapy, we engage with these parts to understand and heal the wounds they hold, especially those related to trauma. This process fosters self-compassion and emotional integration.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps process traumatic memories and experiences, allowing for the reduction of emotional distress and better integration of those memories. It's particularly effective in addressing attachment-related wounds and emotional triggers from past trauma.
Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) emphasizes the connection between brain function, emotional regulation, and relational experiences. Drawing from the work of Dr. Dan Siegel, IPNB helps us understand how our brains are shaped by early relationships and how they can heal through safe, supportive connections. This approach underscores the importance of mind-body integration and the healing power of interpersonal relationships.
By combining these modalities, we address the full spectrum of emotional pain—helping you move from surviving to thriving. Together, we can rebuild a secure sense of self, heal attachment wounds, and create more fulfilling, authentic relationships.
I’m committed to staying grounded in the work through ongoing training in trauma, attachment, and nervous system healing. Here’s a look at some of the advanced certifications and workshops that inform my practice.
