Healing Is Not A Straight Line

Therapy is an investment and a journey. Sometimes we, as perfectionistic and high-achieving people, want therapy to be almost formulaic. A + B = C. Now I am less anxious and less sad and overall functioning better in two weeks. Thank you and done. But healing is not a straight line. Healing is a process.

We don’t live in a process-driven culture. We’re product-driven. Oftentimes we want to apply this mentality to therapy. In fact, many high performers are used to doing things perfectly by working extra hard, staying organized, and being hypervigilant. How can I master therapy? The thing is, there is no formula for therapy. Therapy is a journey that we tailor to fit your specific needs.

Together we will weather your ups and downs while we investigate and explore your story. I will help you develop more coping skills and techniques for your everyday life. I will witness your experiences, your triumphs, and your disappointments. And this is not a linear process.

In therapy, you will work to become more whole, more joyful, and to live the life you desire. I believe that we can always grow, learn, and continue to heal. It’s kinda messy. And that's okay.
