About Me & My Practice

Heather Curry, MA, LPC-S (Texas)

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) providing outpatient psychotherapy to adults (18+) physically located in Texas at the time of session.

I use EMDR and parts work to help emotionally sensitive adults in Texas with trauma, anxiety, chronic pelvic pain, and people-pleasing patterns.

This Work Might Be A Good Fit For If Your Client…

  • Overthinks, self-monitors, or people-pleases to stay connected

  • Feel emotions intensely or stay on edge, shut down, or overwhelmed

  • Understand patterns but still feel stuck in them

  • Experiences chronic tension, pelvic pain, or nervous system dysregulation

  • Had a traumatic childhood or traumatic experiences that has shaped their life

  • Feels responsible for others while minimizing their own needs

How I Approach Therapy

Depending on my client needs, I may draw from:

  • EMDR to process trauma and reduce nervous system reactivity

  • parts work to shift people-pleasing, perfectionism, and self-blame patterns

  • nervous-system and attachment-based therapy to reduce chronic anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • address the emotional and nervous-system effects of chronic pain

Areas I Specialize In

Trauma Therapy (EMDR)

I provide EMDR therapy for trauma in adults in Texas, including:

  • Relational and developmental trauma

  • Attachment trauma

  • Medical trauma and chronic health-related stress

  • Nervous system dysregulation (hypervigilance, shutdown, dissociation)

I use EMDR carefully and at a pace that supports safety, stability, and readiness.

Perfectionism & People-Pleasing

I use parts work and attachment-based therapy to help adults:

  • Reduce people-pleasing and over-responsibility

  • Shift perfectionism and chronic self-pressure

  • Build internal steadiness and clearer boundaries

  • Feel safer being authentic in relationships

This work focuses on changing patterns at their origin, not just managing symptoms.

Chronic Pelvic Pain

I provide trauma-informed therapy for adults living with chronic pelvic pain and chronic conditions in adults in Texas.

This includes:

  • Nervous system regulation for pain flares

  • Processing medical or relational trauma related to pain

  • Reducing fear cycles and chronic bracing

  • Supporting clients alongside medical and pelvic floor care

Therapeutic Approach & Style

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, relational, attachment-based, and grounded in an understanding of the nervous system. I work collaboratively and at a pace that respects client boundaries, readiness, and sense of safety. My work is also shaped by a feminist lens, including attention to the ways relationships, culture, identity, and systems can affect emotional well-being.

In sessions, we may focus on:

  • Processing emotional experiences, rather than only analyzing or understanding them

  • Helping people I work with feel less overwhelmed, reactive, or chronically on alert

  • Understanding the protective patterns my clients developed and helping them shift with greater compassion

  • Building a stronger sense of choice, agency, and connection to self

  • Creating change that feels deeper and more sustainable than simply trying to think differently

This practice may not be the right fit for

  • Crisis stabilization or suicidal emergencies

  • Addiction or substance use treatment

  • Couples or family therapy

  • Court-mandated or forensic evaluations

  • Clients seeking CBT-only or highly structured skills-based therapy

Being outside my scope does not mean therapy is not right—only that another provider may be better equipped to offer the kind of support needed.

Depending on client needs, a crisis-focused program, substance-use specialist, couples or family therapist, or more structured skills-based approach may be a better fit.
